The New England Rubber Men, along with Mr. New England Rubber 2017 Drew Ranger, mourn the passing of John Mediate Pupo (Medi) who died unexpectedly late last week. Medi was a devoted member of NERM for many years, first as a member, then as part of the board. His years of service to NERM – and the kink community as a whole – closely followed his path as an Eagle Scout, a role which taught him the values of leadership and legacy. Those who knew him will remember his passion, loyalty and creativity. His devilish grin, which always held a glimmer of infectious charm, made everyone he met feel welcomed and included. Medi was always willing to take the time to explain and educate – and he took pride in representing the values of the rubber community: respect, responsibility and resiliency. Whenever a brother in kink passes, it’s a reminder not only of how delicate life is, but how we must all stand together. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “It is not the length of life, but the depth of life.” While we grieve for the loss of one of our own, we also celebrate the person he was – in life and in kink. Please take a moment to join us in expressing our sympathies to Medi’s family and friends. Until we meet again, dear brother.
